Our congregation loves children! We believe that each child is a precious gift from God with unique abilities and purpose. We believe it is our job to disciple our children in the ways of the Lord so that they can effectively live for Christ and share their faith. You will find us to be a very family-friendly, welcoming church with lots of activities and learning times geared towards the next generation of the Church. Our doors are open; come and check us out!
We offer Sunday School each Sunday from 9:15 to 10:30 a.m. in the FLC Assembly Room. At 9:15 the children meet for snacks and fellowship. The opening begins at 9:30 with songs, skits, the daily Bible verse, and time to honor birthdays and baptisms and welcome visitors. After the opening, the children meet in age-based small groups with their teachers to discuss the lesson. Sunday School concludes with a craft or activity that highlights the lesson of the day and the Bible verse. We emphasize practical Bible application, music, missions, and stewardship. Current schedules and maps are posted on bulletin boards throughout the church and school. Be sure to check us out!
Children’s Sunday School
The 2-year old Sunday School meets in room 129 of the child development center with Katie Hayden teaching. Hands-on activities help toddlers learn about God's love and care. Children who have turned two by August 31 are welcome to join.
The 3-year olds through pre-kindergarten meet in room 100 of the child development center with Lorna Menzel teaching. We base Bible verses, music, and art activities on the weekly Bible lesson.
The kindergarten through 4th graders meet in the choir room, room 101, of the sanctuary building. Please drop off and pick up children at this location. Children experience songs, craft, and a lesson from the scripture. During the lesson time, we separate the children into K-2nd graders and 3rd-4th graders in the 1st and 2nd grade school class, which are rooms 106 and 107. Teachers include Karen Tomkovich, Tabby / Scott Jagger, Rebecca Armstrong, Elise Fulda, June Kalange, Nancy Rice, Craig Camealy, and Mairlyn Johnson.
The 5th graders Sunday School meets in the school library, room 105A, next to the assembly/annex room with Pam Ols teaching. In this class, the student begins the formal confirmation journey with a more in depth look at the Bible.
