Shoes That Fit (STF) has been chosen as the recipient of the Lutheran Women in Mission "Gifts from the Heart" in-gathering at their 2010 Gulf States District Convention, to be held in Guntersville in April.  New shoes received at the in-gathering will be given to schoolchildren at local elementary schools.  The chapter of STF at Grae Lutheran Church in Huntsville, Alabama, sponsered by Thriven Financial, was the first chapter in the state of Alabama, and since it's inception in 2004 has helped hundgreds of children at local elementary schools receive much needed shoes and other items of clothing.

Shoes That Fit provides new shoes and clothing to children in need so that they can attend school in comfort and with dignity.  We do this by matching a sponsoring group (in our case, Grace Lutheran and Thrivent Financial) with schools (currently Ridgecrest Elementary School) near them that have children in need.  The school determines what children are in need and measures students with materials STF provides.  The sponsor/s provde funds and purchase the exact items those children require, and delivers the items to the school.  Every penny spent goes directly to the child.
