Mentoring at Ridgecrest Elementary School

Location: Ridgecrest Elementary School

Resource:  Tutors from Grace Lutheran Church

Mentoring consists of assisting students individually or in the classroom setting in either reading or math.  Usually 1 hour per week with a teacher is the time required to mentor.  Teachers assign a student or students to work with a volunteer, or you work as a floater in the classroom, helping as needed.  No previous experience is necessary.  There is an orientation meeting and on-the-job training is provided.

Mentoring is a great way to give some positive affirmation to children.  There are many rewarding esperiences while you build relationships with the children you are helping.  You make a difference in the lves of the children by being a positive influence in theri lives while you help them learn.  They are suo appreciateve that you take the time to be with them.
