Music Ministry

Music is one of the ways we, God's people, prepare to come into the throne room of our God and King. Singing and listening to music are some powerful ways God uses to cause hearts to become receptive to the Spirit, to soften the soul, to lift us up to His presence. Scripture is filled with examples of singing and music that are used in times of joy, battle, sadness, praise and worship.Click and sing! A new way to learn new music! Whoever would have "thunk" it?

At Grace Lutheran, we offer many varieties of music and opportunities for people to be a part of music, whether it's as a member in the congregation, in the choir, in the instrumental section or part of the leadership in worship. We also offer drama as an integral part of worship and as part of "extracurricular" activities for special occasions.

Please contact Judy Burhans with any questions you might have!

Here are some offerings from the Music Department at Grace:

NEW SONG TO LEARN!

On Sunday, November 14, the GIFT children will be singing and they'd like for us to sing along with them. The words for "We Bow Down" are in the 8:00 AM Bulletin for October 17. The music can be heard on YouTube at the link

Children's Bell Choirs

During the school year, Children's bell choir and Children's chimers can be heard practicing down the hallways of the school. Rehearsals are scheduled on Wednesday afternoons and Susan Sadler is the director of these fantastic kids. Practice will begin after Labor Day weekend, which means on September 8 at 3:00 PM, the halls will resound with music, once again.

Call Susan Sadler for more information.

Vocal Choirs

Noteworthy: Join us as we begin our new season of music for worship and rejoicing! The adult choir will begin rehearsals for 2010-2011 on Sunday afternoon, September 12. The time in the most recent Grace Notes had us starting at 2:00 PM, but that has been changed to 1:00 PM. We meet in the Music Room on the Sanctuary side of the church property, and beginning in October, we will take a look at the Christmas cantata, "The First Noel," a beautiful video-enhanced worship service written by Randy Vader and Jay Rouse. Practice CD's and books are available. Check out a sample of the cantata here: The First Noel

Bell Choirs

Bells for ringers
  • Adult Bells - High School and up. This group meets in the GIFT room on Thursday afternoons at 6:00 PM. Susan says, "Y'all come and ring!" Susan has been doing bell ministry directing at Grace Lutheran since about 1998 and she has taught many children and adults the best way to ring bells. Her natural ability and skill are truly a gift that we appreciate here! Rnging Bell

This group of ringers will participate in worship services during the year and possibly participate in bell festivals and ringing around the neighborhood.

So, see you in the bell room! Cool
