Foster Community Outreach

Welcome!

Grace Lutheran Church has been blessed with the opportunity for a major outreach effort impacting a southwest Huntsville neighborhood.  This multi-faceted outreach effort seeks to minister to the people in this community and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  We have been working with a tiny church in the neighborhood, formerly McDonnell Methodist Chapel, now Iglesia de la Comunidad.  It has given us a physical presence in the neighborhood that we use for a variety of activities.

This outreach was initiated in the summer of 2006.  We have progressed slowly, with an initial community picnic, tutoring at Ridgecrest Elementary School, fixing up the Chapel, and doing a survey of needs in the neighborhood.  We have expanded this effort to include free English classes, holiday contributions, VBS, and Shoes that Fit.  Click here for more information on our recent activities, and be sure to check out our FAQ section if you have any questions.

Objectives for the Foster Community Ministry

Share the love of Jesus with residents of the community.

Move our congregational focus outside our walls and impact the community for Jesus Christ.

Demonstrate to the Huntsville community that Grace Lutheran Church is making a difference in people's lives in a practical way.

Invite other North Alabama congregations to work with us.
