Faith Journey

For both Middle and Senior High Youth
Dinner and Fellowship at 5:15 p.m.
Wednesday nights, 6:00-7:30 p.m. in the annex

Each Wednesday night is a spiritual growth event including: music, a guest-speaker with a faith story, a drama led by some of our high school youth, a basics-of-the-faith Bible teaching using hands-on visuals and small group time for parents and youth to share some “faith talk” on what it means. On some of these nights, the small groups do a servant event; some examples of what our groups have done: baking cookies for the local fire fighters, bringing a meal to a family that has had sickness, bringing flowers and a card to a hospice patient, delivering a basket of household items to a family that had a fire.

HOW WE CARRY OUT THE VISION:

  • Helping youth develop an integrated faith in Jesus Christ; a faith put into action in the situations of daily life.
  • Assisting and resourcing parents in the critical task of passing the faith on to their children. We emphasize sharing and supporting in the family context through family discussions, devotions, prayer time.
  • From the Bible and Martin Luther’s Small Catechism, learning a basic knowledge of the central truths of the Christian faith and the ability to share them with others.
  • Active involvement in the life of a Christian congregation (worship, Bible Study, service and witness, fellowship)
  • Using small groups to help the young people to build spiritually significant relationships with other parents and students attending.
  • Encouraging relationships with Christians of all ages by hearing the “faith stories” of guest speakers.
  • Continued involvement in youth ministry after two years of involvement and/or after the confirmation ceremony.

"Now this is eternal life: that they may know (and experience) you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent."
