We have embarked on a year-long celebration of the 50th anniversary of our church.
We are trying to contact as many former members of Grace Lutheran Church as we can. SAVE THIS DATE - Martin Luther King weekend, January 17 & 18, 2009, the official 50th Anniversary reception, dinner and church service.
We would like to hear memories of your days at Grace. Please take a minute to write and let us know your most meaningful experience/activity at Grace.
If you would share some of the following: 1) old photos of Grace Lutheran people/events (e-mail scans or sendpictures to be scanned and returned quickly); 2) names and current addresses of former members you keep in touch with, to build our contact list; 3)your e-mail address for us to send you further 50th anniversary info.

Bricks
Join in celebrating Grace Lutheran's 50th anniversary by purchasing an engraved brick on the commemorative walkway. The walkway will become a permanent part of the Grace landscape and a permanent tribute to those you wish to honor. Bricks are available for a gift of $100 each which will support equally Grace Lutheran School and the Grace Lutheran Church 50th Anniversary Celebration. Engraved bricks may be in honor of or in memory of someone, or for a particular occasion just to name a few examples.
To help design your personalized brick, we provide an envelope representing the face of the brick with blank spaces to be filled in with the desired message. The message can include up to 58 characters on a total of three lines. A character includes: letters, numbers, punctuation, and spaces. The first two lines contain a maximum of twenty characters each and the third line contains a maximum of eighteen characters. If all letters are UPPERCASE, the maximum is 16 per line. Each line can be centered on the brick. Please print the desired message in the blanks. The message will appear on the brick exactly the way it is printed on the envelope. See Frank/Carol Childs, Essie McElveen, or the church office for brick envelopes.
Enclose in the envelope a check made payable to Grace Lutheran Church with "Brick Purchase" noted in the 'For' section of the check. Return the completed envelope to the church office. The plans are to install the newly engraved bricks before the Anniversary Celebration weekend in January 2009 so we request that orders be placed before September 1, 2008.
A personalized brick will create lasting memories and support a worthy project. Thanks for your considerations!
Cookbooks
The "Tastes of Grace" cookbook is 445 recipes thick and is back from the publisher. If your ordered an advance copy of the cookbook, you may pick them up starting August 10th. Look for the white capped ladies around the campus after the 8:00 am service or before the 10:45 am service to reserve your copy for only $20! Praise God for all His help and glory to His name!
Directories
The new 50th Anniversary editions of the Grace Lutheran Church Directory has been released! If you haven't picked yours up yet, contact the Church Office. For those of you who had a picture taken, you will receive a picture directory in a notebook with your name on it. If you did not have a picture taken, you will receive a paper copy of the phone/address directory.
T-Shirts
The T-shirts are only $12 each and will be 100% cotton in white and gray and feature a small dark green Grace Lutheran Church logo and a purple LCMS cross on the front. The back will contain large dark green printing saying "Celebrating 50 Years - 1958-2008 Grace Lutheran Church and School, Huntsville, AL".
The deadline for initial orders is August 24, 2008! You'll be able to pick up the shirts starting Sept. 14th.
